Who I Am.

Here is your chance to learn a little bit about me, and how I work.

My name is Ryan Askew and I am a Front End Web Developer from Wilbraham, Ma. I specialize in creating clean, usable, semantically correct websites, and other web properties. I am happy to discuss your project with you, feel free to contact me to discuss your idea, no project is too big or too small.

I am experienced working in XHTML, CSS, and Javascript. I also have worked with WordPress Theme Development, and PHP. Developing great properties for the web is something that takes skill, practice, and a professional attitude, and I constantly strive to improve my skills through practice, collaboration, and learning. I use a combination of software to complete my work including Panic Coda and Adobe Dreamweaver for coding. For graphical elements I use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Fireworks.

My education experience includes an Associate Degree in Multimedia Technology from Springfield Tech. Plus I have more than a decade of business and sales experience, and I initially began building websites more than a decade ago.

My process involves three simple steps. To begin, I consult with my client, ask a whole bunch of questions to get a feel for the project and the goals for the job. We discuss the overall feel of the project, what the project needs to accomplish, how to deliver the finished project, and who will be responsible for what. Once everyone is on the same page, step two begins. This involves developing a prototype, determining functionality, and the actual work on the project. Depending on how this step is progressing, sometimes there are revisions to be made, features to be added or removed, and budgets and schedules to be adjusted. Step three begins when I have completed the project, it is then run through with the client for their review. If there are revisions to be made, we go back a step, otherwise when my client is satisfied, I implement the project using the delivery method we have arranged. That’s the process in a nutshell.

Outside of work, my wife and I have one incredible daughter, and two Pembroke Welsh Corgis, Lavie and Tank, who are too smart for their own good.

This project involved building a website to showcase an art exhibit at the Smith College Museum of Art, in Northampton, MA, for a client. This website showcases the artist's paintings, and is prominently featured on the Smith College Museum of Art main Website. This website was built using XHTML and CSS3, while being able to gracefully degrade to standard CSS for older web browsers.
